Richard Schlom virtually "grew up" in the fine art and antiques business.  His large, extended family have related businesses in the North and Southeast.

Schlom is most well known in the industry for his work as head of Furniture & Decorative Arts with C. G. Sloan & Company (Sloan's Auction Gallery, Miami, FL and Washington, DC), a major regional auction house.  He evaluated thousands of items in preparation for auction, handling more property than most appraisers see in a lifetime; those pieces accepted for auction received his detailed catalog descriptions.  Through his work with Sloan's, his own antique gallery, a lecture series on Oriental Rugs and his present online Internet business, he has earned the respect of his peers. Schlom is personally known by many of this country's leading fine art and antique dealers.

The appraisal side of the business began almost 30 years ago.  Schlom was involved in appraising the Jackie Gleason Estate in Florida.  Over the years he has appraised the property for countless others.  However, Richard believes in maintaining client confidentiality.

  CASSANDRA VAN HORN

Cassandra Van Horn has been appraising fine arts and antiques with Mr. Schlom for the past 10 years. She had spent many years buying and selling antiques, both as a dealer and through her interior design practice.

Before joining the business, Ms. Van Horn displayed her personal artwork in galleries throughout the U.S. gaining personal knowledge of the competitive art market. She has a BS in Art and Design from the University of Minnesota.
